As you may already know, here at Valstrom we are avid fans of the fashion campaign. Every season we excitedly wait for the high art from the world's greatest tastemakers. But sometimes duplication occurs, mostly because two separate creative teams happen upon the same brilliant idea, or studio shoots on a white backdrop are inherently 'classic' looking, therefore exempt from the duplication rule. But we don't expect it from the same photographer in the same season. David Sims has done just that, first came Marc Jacobs SS14, then came Replay SS14. Both shot on a beach set, with a turbulent cloud backdrop, models lying about, windswept, and finished off with the same colour retouch. Unfortunate or deliberate? We will never know. We are calling this one #beachgate.
