Collections Women: Couture round-up
It was a somewhat underwhelming couture season as Raf Simons continued to explore a more demure vision of couture that he started last season at Dior. Karl Lagerfeld went for lesbian wedding chic as he sent down two brides holding hands as the closing look. At Atelier Versace, Donatella put on a show that championed the sexy and powerful woman that Gianni imagined in the 1980s. Maison Martin Margiela as usual opted for the peculiar with a colourful collection that lacked the Margiela punch we are used to. With Givenchy not presenting a collection this season it becomes apparent that the genius of Riccardo Tisci is what we seem to look forward not only at couture shows but also ready to wear.
