Copenhagen Fashion Week: Freya Dalsjo SS13
A high octane dramatic opening to Copenhagen Fashion Week as new comer Freya Dalsjo presented an impressive sophomore collection that included lots of leather and sharp silhouettes. A modern femme fatale with bold statement shoulders that would have had the cast of Dynasty in a frenzy. Highlights included a leather dress with full skirt and a high waisted trousers paired with a dreamy feather jacket in off white and a reworked visor. There is no doubt that the 22-year-old designer has an exciting aesthetic that is worthy of a much bigger international stage. The designer is an oasis in an otherwise minimal and restrained fashion week. However strong and solid the collection was, it felt more like a winter collection rather than spring/ summer, which could have a negative effect on the sales and buyers picking up the young designer. Perhaps it might have been the cold summer sweeping northern Europe that influenced the designer or perhaps designing according to the seasons is something miss Dalsjo has to mature into.
