London Fashion Week: Paul Smith SS13
There was slight Mondrian quality in the Paul Smith show this season that was not only visible in the graphic bold block colours used but also in the clean lines of the suits and blouses. There is always a focus on tailoring at Paul Smith, which is not strange considering the Savile Row background of the designer. For S/S 13 the tailoring came in wonderfully  colourful options which balanced the masculine influences of the brogues used throughout the collection. The graphic use of colour translated well into dresses and in particular, the patchwork pieces which included blocs of lace. This added a great fluidity in contrast to the strictness of the suits. An accomplished collection that is nothing short of retail gold.
