London Men: J.W. Anderson SS13.

J.W. Anderson is proving to be one of the most interesting young designers making waves internationally with his instantly recognisable but equally challenging aesthetic. His menswear S/S13 continued to explore the path of bored housewives that the designer has presented for his womenswear. The long and lean silhouette was strictly 70’s (a trend that we saw at both Prada and Jil Sander in Milan later on) with crotch hugging trousers, sheer tops and shorts that leave very little to the imagination. The interesting choices of fabric such as organza, taffeta, lace, together with the colour palette added a feminine delicacy to the J.W. Anderson man. The gender-bending choices of the designer could easily have landed on the wrong side of camp. However, Anderson’s strong directional aesthetic is far too intellectual to fall in to that category.
