Milan Men: Versace SS13
After it’s successful collaboration with Swedish high street retailer H&M, Versace has been experiencing a renaissance of sorts. Donatella has firmly stepped out of her brother Gianni’s shadow and is seemingly ready to celebrate his legacy. Menswear S/S13 proved to be a great exercise in decadent Gianni Versace male glamour as an army of beefcake models strutted down the catwalk. The look was ultra macho camp with embellished kaftan-like robes held together by equally adorned WWE type belts. The overtly sexualised briefs with mesh panelled briefs (that left very little to the imagination) will strike a chord with male exotic dancers world wide. Blousons echoed the decadent glamour of the designs in coppery silk lame. The more wearable looks consisted of suits with a metallic sheen, jackets in silver/copper and great calf length gladiator sandals in leather. It was a collection that would have made Gianni proud.
