Paris Fashion Week: Balenciaga AW13
Alexander Wang’s debut show at Balenciaga saw the designer explore the purity of form and shape made infamous by the labels founding designer Cristobal Balenciaga. The collection featured a great deal of the house codes re-interpreted for the modern urban woman. In particular, the cocoon shapes in jackets that were cut high, matched with high waisted trousers and skirts with a gathering detail at the front. Wang cleverly added a hint of his own sportswear aesthetic (in a most minimal way) through the marble references seen throughout the collections in print and fur (a standout look). It  will be interesting to see how far Wang can push the Balenciaga house codes and how much of his own sportluxe chic will infiltrate the brand. One thing’s for sure however, Balenciaga has in it’s hands a collection that will surely be retail gold and highly coveted by fashion editors worldwide. #Balenciaga #Alexander Wang #Paris Fashion Week @BALENCIAGA
